A lot of the time after I turn on my computer, videos and games will have quick, few frame freeze ups and distorted audio glitches like a tv with bad reception and they get more frequent with time and the only way to fix it is to restart. Any ideas of what is happening and how I can prevent/fix it?

You running nivida? if so it would not surprise me to be the GPU. I get the same thing which I had my comp looked at for it several times by several people and it boggled there mind. If I restart my comp it runs brand new for as long as I am on it, but it seems when my computer goes into "sleep mode" and I come back to it my fps is down to like 20, and my CPU is pegged at 70-80%. I restart my pc and again back to running smooth as pie. Now this doesn't happen everytime, but half the time it does.

If it isn't the GPU as I described, then I would check on cpu usage or overheating.

I'll check what gpu my computer uses when I get home, your description is very close to what happens for me.
