artifact hunting

I'm thinking of starting up Artifact hunting aka Metal detecting etc.

I use to do this way back in the day with a cheap metal detector with my father. I haven't done it since and it's been at least 10 years. Not sure why, but it popped into my head a few days ago and then I started watching the discovery channel and ran among the show called "Diggers". I then decided I wish to get back into the sport and see what happens. The best thing I've found doing the sport before was a old can that was rusted and had a ton of old coins in it. Probably was around $30.00 in coins at the time but I sold them for $100.00. $70.00 profit not bad when I only paid $80.00 for the metal detector lol. Just figured to share my thoughts and see if anyone else does or has done this before.

 

I was a guest speaker at a metal detecting club one time. Was amazed where these guys hunt and what they find. Post some pics of stuff you find if you can.

 

For sure I might not be starting up till like another month or so till I can get the money to be able to pay for the gear needed to get started again. I belong to an actual club for it right now!

this is a site that i joined and after a while on it was asked to join a club with them. They have alot of interesting things they found on here as well with pictures i was surprised!
